How can I get a Hawkeye to turn on and off an XCAM2 directly?
I wish to make a totally portable surveillance system for my parents consisting of an XCAM2, a Hawkeye motion sensor, and 12v NimH battery in a single box. The picture will be broadcast to a Video Commander and VCR hidden in another room. I don't want to run ANY power lines to this box as they are inconvenient and would reduce the system's portability. The trouble is, I also don'tlike changing batteries and I can't rely on my parents to remember to do this on a regular basis. This means I need a way for the Hawkeye to turn on and off the XCAM2 directly to conserve its battery. An XM10A addressable power supply would solve the on-off issue but it still requires an outlet to plug into. Since the Hawkeye and camera are in the same box, could a wire from the Hawkeye turn on a relay or transistor that would then turn on the XCAM2 battery? All I'd need is a wire from the Hawkeye that would go high whenever motion was detected. Its normal tx circuitry would then turn on the Video Commander and VCR. I figure intermittent use like this could make the camera battery last several months or more. Thanks for any help you can offer.
