I'm nervous about participating in an Open Source project run by a for profit business
Don't be.

All of the projects hosted on our site are licensed under an OSI certified license. This means the software will always be Open Source. The most popular license used is the GNU license which basically requires any derivatives of this software be made freely available. Thus we couldn't take software users have worked on and sell it without making the identical product available for free. And given our strong belief in Open Source Software, we would never do that anyway.

Yes, we are a commerical for profit company. However, we make our money off of hardware, not software. But first and foremost, the founder of Creative Control Concepts believes in making home automation as available and easy to use as possible. This open source project is one way of helping to accomplish that.
