(Answer) (Category) Home Automation FAQ : (Category) Audio/Video : (Category) Audio : (Category) Wireless Distribution :
Is there any way to get the audio from my main stereo in room A to another room in my house without running wires?
There are a few options. X-10 and others make 2.4GHz video senders, which also send audio via wireless. But they can be $70-$150 or so. All electronics is selling some surplus units (www.allelectronics.com). There are other setups which transmit the audio over powerlines. Many electronics stores have units like these. You plug a transmitter in by your stereo and speakers into a receiver plugged into an outlet in the room where you want music. Sound quality is surprisingly good. They may make units which transmit line level audio too though I’ve not seen those.
