(Answer) (Category) Home Automation FAQ : (Category) HA Equipment : (Category) Creative Control Concepts/HCS-II : (Category) PL-Link & HCS-PLIX X-10 Gateways :
Can the PLIX be used with 50Hz electrical systems?
Yes it can. However, you will require the 50Hz version of the PLIX processor. You will also need to use the 220V/50Hz version of the TW-523 (I think it is the TW-7223)

The reason for having two different versions is that X-10 transmitters must output X-10 bits at the zero-cross of all three possible phases. To do this, the controller must send the bit at the zero cross of the phase it is connected to and then it must time until the zero cross of the other 2 phases. This time delay is different for 50Hz and 60Hz systems. It could not be set with a configuration jumper since the PLIX processor had no spare I/O pins.
