(Answer) (Category) Home Automation FAQ : (Category) HA Equipment : (Category) Creative Control Concepts/HCS-II : (Category) HCS-DTMF Telephone Interface :
Can the HCS-DTMF board send pages?
Yes and No.

The HCS-DTMF board can make calls and it can send DTMF tones so it can send pages to numeric pages. The trick is programming in a delay between dialing the pager number and sending the tones for the number to send to the pager. The HCS-II cannot tell when the far side has picked up as it doesn't sense the special tone played when the pager number answers.

Also, be sure to send a # at the end of your page which signals you are done sending digits. It isn't necessary, but makes for a cleaner exchange between you and hte pager as the pager server doesn't have to timeout before sending the page.

As for alphanumeric pages, the current HCS-DTMF board cannot send pages to them (except for numeric pages) sinc eit does not have an onboard modem to connect to the remote pager service.
