(Answer) (Category) Home Automation FAQ : (Category) HA Equipment : (Category) Creative Control Concepts/HCS-II : (Category) HCS-II Supervisory Controller :
Are there any plans to upgrade the HCS-II to the faster Z8S180 processor?
Yes

The Z8S180 processor does not use a clock divider so the CPU will run at the full 18.432 MHz instead of the current 9.216MHz. The performance increase will be more than double since the number of memory wait states can be reduced.

Watch the CCC Website for details on this exciting upgrade which as of this writing is in progress.

This upgrade is currently in beta test and should be available in February 2000. Pricing is not set yet but will probably be around $60-$70 including tools to remove the old chips.
