(Answer) (Category) Home Automation FAQ : (Answer) (missing or broken file) : (Category) X-10 Inc. : (Category) TW-523 X-10 Interface :
Can I use a normal phone cable to connect my TW-523 to ???
The TW-523 uses a normal RJ-11 jack for connection to 3rd party devices. All 4 pins are used (Ground, Tx, Rx, Sync).

However, many products use a straight verion modular cable meaning if you hold the two connectors next to each other, the wires will be in the same order left to right. Telephone cords are flipped so the wires are in opposite order left to right.

Most products connecting to TW-523's use straight wired modular cables. If in doubt, contact the vendor for your product if you don't have the original cable to compare to.

Obviously, if your product uses a normal telephone cable that got damaged, the replacement cable MUST have all 4 conductors wired.
